Well, isn't this fan-fucking-tastic?

My job search was once again reinvigorated when my boss came in on a Sunday and I was not in - I had taken some Sundays off (we work Sundays but play with our balls for a few hours and waste the entire day in traffic)because I told him it's either Sunday's or days off work - I have exams and he doesn't give a shit about that or me - other companies pay for their employees to better themselves professionally, every dime comes out of my pocket - but that's another story.

I was coming in with my colleague whose car was broken (my exams had finished and I took off 4 Sundays to cover a years course) and so we didn't attend work - my other colleagues fucked me in that the boss came in (a rare occurrence) and they talked on the phone so my broken car colleague called to say he wasn't coming in - and didn't tell me. I got an earful on the phone and he said in passing don't come in anymore.

I haven't written in a long while - for a while there I thought that things were on the up and up. Not to say that they aren't, it's just work related things are just as messed as they have been, perhaps even more so.

What was it that nudged me back into the comfort of this place? Let me lay it out real quick:

1. I found out that my Boss earned $1.4m over three years, AFTER TAX. (EXCLUDING certain other payments, such as bonuses - this is his bread and butter here)
2. He has not given us bonuses in any of those years, because the company wasn't doing well enough. I suppose he has high standards.

NYT Article and an interesting online mag

An article about waiters / waitresses and all the crap those guys have to put up with, and also some of the designated online blogs to bitching.

Kind of like this place we call home.

Also, I found a magazine that basically writes about how to integrate your life and your work more successfully, recognizing that most of our live's we're working and in order to have a fulfilling life, we need to find fulfillment at work too.

Just another day in the office

So we had another lovely 14 hour day today. It was fantastic.

My boss is such a nice caring sensitive person that today he gave me orders such as:

"You're project over the next fifteen minutes is to XXXX". I worked well over 14 hours today. That's a shit load of projects.

The he gave me a stack of someone's own personal business plans and asked me to rewrite the whole thing. The contents were complete and utter shite and the oject of my rewrite is to be able to get this plummy twat the highest possible price in a sale. Basically to rip someone else off.
Oh and it has to be done by tomorrow early morning so please come in early to do so. Like I don't have enough fucking work. And of course, he add to add a comment at the end. This time it was "Don't make me look bad". I couldn't do more than you have even if I tried, dickhead.

MANAGER has left the building....

The self procalimed MANAGER of our little team has upped and left the company. Yup. After six months of sneaking around and doing all sorts of property deals on company time, he has decided that there is a life outside the cesspool that is our office.

Well good for him. Not exactly. That smug bastard has been acting up. The shithead we have to swallow our pride for and call BOSS was asking after me today, inquiring as to why the hell I didn't give him some information he thought I should have. I was taking a leak at the time, and the MANAGER thought it would be funny to act shocked and play along. It was actually decided that he would pass that info to the boss himself, but thought this would be better. And I didn't know till now. Lovely.

Monday Morning Madness

"This is the LONDON stock exchange, not the BOMBAY stock exchange, do you understand?!?!" screams the BOSS. (Exact words have been changed to protect the sanctity of my behind, and to also add comic value)

Obviously he was an unloved child. The rant continues, and goes on to include such things as "You need to decide what life you want to live - one of mediocrity or excellence". BABY cringes, needs to change his diapers, and so crawls off to hide in a corner.

I sit at my desk writing this, and just ignore it. BABY moans and groans, and the MANAGER perfects the art of the silent snicker. A regular day at the office. Monday morning no less.

I'm not sure if rants are like revenge - best served cold.

From waaaay past boiling point, the temperature of my blood is now probably bringing down my Blood pressure. I am as calm and as collected as I will be in this firm.

This is my first post, and I would like to introduce you to the players in my recurring nightmare:

"The BOSS" - Educated at one of the finest ivy league institutions in the US, and so the world. An absolute asshole of boss though, and my joining fresh out of university is proving to be one mistake I may never recover from.

He has a large collection of books on important and diverse things such as fractal mathematics, financial engineering and microchip fabrication. More so than most public libraries in fact. However, he also asks me (someone whose grasp of computers is limited to personal interests and what I learned in high school equivalent computer science) to hook up a computer system he bought on the cheap (what a rip off). Turns out, this is usually done by 4 qualified technicians, over the course of a week, and would require CABLING to be done. Reasonable request? I don't think so.
