Back after one of the most insanely weird weeks at the hut. First things First. We got a new Assistant Manager in Training this week. This guy has had no book training or even regular class training. He is so green that it is unreal. He mainly just stands around asking the employees about themselves. He does try to do some things, but mainly stands around just watching things. When he finally did have to go on the make table to make some pizza orders he refused to hang up his cell phone. He was talking to his girlfriend, and barely able to put one pizza together in under 3 minutes. He looked pretty funny holding the cell phone with one hand, and wandering around looking for dough. This was on his 5 or 6th day, and he was unable to figure out what pan had Pan Dough in it. Umm.. maybe its in the big deep ones. Then it took way to long for the pies to come out of the oven since he stayed on his phone for over 10 min while on make. It is going to be a long summer if he makes it through training. They are saying they will give him 2 months to go through the training. He has one year of experiance at Arby's. I tried to train him on how to do a carryout order (got tired of watching him doing nothing). Apparently he didn't watch what I did (even though I stopped at each step), since he failed miserably at his attempt to cash out an order later that shift. I give him less than a 20% chance at making 3 months.
Even though it was very slow on Monday nite, the cut boy managed to misbag an order (actaully 2 or 3). Then, the driver took that delivery to an address on Nichols Dr. This driver was routed with a delivery on Flower St. So, not only did the customer on Nichols not get the right pizzas, the customer on Flower never got their order. This was because when the cut idiot (boy) had pizzas coming out of the oven that he had no ticket for,so I reprinted the ticket for Nichols Dr. which matched up to the pizzas being cut. I then delivered those pizzas (since I was routed with Nichols Dr. delivery)but was informed that they had already gotten their pizzas. I asked them if the pizzas were correct. They went to check. They were not correct. So I gave them the correct pizzas and proceeded to call my unit on my cell phone. I explained that I had the pizzas that were delivered to Nichols Dr. that had been misbagged. I then had the shift manager reprint the ticket for Flower St. Ofcourse the ticket and the pizzas matched. The cook remade the pizzas, and then the remake stood on the rack bagged because no one wanted to take it. I was asked to take it. He offered $2 for the delivery ( I usually get 50 cents per address ), so I took it. It was over 40 minutes late by now. They paid full price and even tipped me $2. I did explain that the pizzas had been remade and that is why it took so long. Now this doesn't sound that bad, but when the driver that took "the run that was on the rack" while not looking to see if it was even her run, tells me to "Get over it", I was not a happy camper. If I had not tried to fix this messup (Fubar) the customer on Flower ST would not have gotten their food until they called to complain. This female driver has worked at the hut for 5 years and as a driver for 3. The shift manager understood my frustration as I followed him outside for his smoke break. Even though I was in a bad mood, I got great tips that nite. A $7, 6, 6, and a $5 tip.. along with my usual $2-3 ones. This is the main reason that I will not manage the hut. Highschool kids that do not care and have no work ethics or drive. No wonder our store is under 90% on our overall scores. Our unit will be losing one of our good shift managers. He has over 10 years of time at the hut, and is moving to another City. We also have a new shift manager that is from another unit. He is covering 2 shifts a week at our unit. This will be the 3rd attempt at getting someone for these 2 shifts. Again.. I think this will be a very bad Summer at my unit. Luckily I think I will be able to drop my 4th shift a week for awhile. I am getting another part time job delivering the free publications in front of Supermarkets. Should take 22 hrs over 3 shifts and will bring in $300 -$400 a week. A nice change from having to deal with all the weird customers and incompetent coworkers at the hut. I only work 24 hours a week at the hut and that is even becoming unbearable. I will be happy once I make it to my 15,000 Accident Free Hour bonus, and can hopefully escape the hut. One of these days when a stupid customer asks me "Do you mind waiting while I go look for my checkbook?", I will say "Yes I do... You had 40 minutes to go find your checkbook BEFORE I got here, and now my next delivery will be late because of your inability to find your checkbook in a timely matter, and no I do not think that a 41 cent tip in a check is a good tip". I however can not say anything to a customer other than the usual asskissing dribble that is shoved down my throat at the hut nowadays, without having the possibility of being fired. To finish of my weird week, a rugrat tried to take my tip out of my hands. The parent had given him money and I proceeded to take the stack from the kid. The kid then asked how much the total was, and actaully tried to take 2 bucks back leaving me with $1.19 for a tip. Luckily I had a pretty good grip on it, and the parental unit saw what was going on and demanded that the rugrat give me the whole stack of money. One of these days I will just go apeshit and go berzerk on a kid trying to steal my tip. It almost would be worth the writeup or firing to do something like that. OH well, I made it through another week at the hut and now I will have 3 days away from it.
