After having to deal with my bad shift manager this last weekend, I have decided to file a written complaint against him. He likes to verbally abuse employees and never has a positive answer to a question or statement. He purposely tried to get me mad last Sunday night. I just gave him the silent treatment as I rarely get into verbal fights. He is so unliked at my hut, that we have inside people that will call in sick or not show up for their evening shifts with him. I just found out today, when I dropped off my complaint, that he actually made cat noises after an employee told him that she was not doing ok since a Fox had attacked and killed her Cat. He has certain employees that he likes to verbally harrass. He also has very poor management skills. I think he is going on 2 years at the hut, and has already been talked to 2 or 3 times about his behavior and the way he treats the inside crew. I think that over 2/3rds of the drivers do not like him and he knows that. He rarely will run dispatch on Sunday night. That is his priority one job, unless he is on the Make Table. I doubt my manager will do much about this, as they are shorthanded on Shift Mangers. We have to "borrow" a shift manager for 2 shifts a week. I addressed my complaint to her and the Area Supervisor-Coach. This way I can atleast try and get the Area Supervisor involved. After his second talking to, he improved slightly but now is back to being very rude and verbally abusive to certain employees.
On the other hand, I got a $20 tip on Saturday night. True it was a $50 order, but I rarely get more than $10 on those. Someone at my unit, told these people that I could break a $100 bill. NOT. If we start making change for peoples $50's or $100's, there is more of a chance that a driver will be jumped or robbed. I had to wait over 10 minutes for the male of the house to go round up enough funds to pay for the pizza. This house orders a lot of pizza. They also try and pay with $50 bills a lot of the time. They usually just write a check when I say I do not have change, but sometimes the Phone person has put a note on the ticket to bring change for a $50, and I am forced to give them change.
Tonight I have to work with the Shift Manager that I do not get along with. It being friday, he will have the Assistant Manager in training working with him. The store manager is going to be out of the unit running a booth at some out door concert in a Park. While the boss is away, the idiots will play. Not looking forward to this shift. We already broke a record high temp this year. The inside of our unit got over 95 degrees that day. The Air conditoner has never been able to keep the temperature under 85 with more than 2 ovens on during a sunny day. I could smell the freon leaking from the unit on the roof, and being blown through the ductwork. The guy that fixes our stuff happen to be in the unit rebuilding a freezer. He said there was nothing wrong with the AC unit. Unbelievable. It needs a Freon charge, and the filters changed. The guy didn't want to climb on the roof. Luckily I get to leave the building on deliveries but the cut table kids have to put up with over 100 degree heat in the over area. A multi billion dollar corporation.. and they are too cheap to install a second Air Conditioner. That is maybe a $2800 cash outlay, and maybe $150 a month in additional electricy cost. This would make the working conditions over by the ovens, much more bearable. Oh well, our unit only cleared a bit over 100 thousand in profit last year as we sold close to 950 thousand dollars worth of stuff. Damnit! Almost time to go drive pizzas. Off to the hut.
