Call center shithole

I work in hell. I am paid to set at my desk and get yelled at by people. I first started working there because I thought the job was interesting. I liked the science behind underwriting policies. Little did I know that you have to be an ass kissing, suck up to get to work in that department. The job I got was in "customer service". What they really should call it is "our policy holders punching bag".

I am so sick and tired of people calling me and yelling because they have to pay for their insurance. If one more person tell me how "unfair" it is to raise their premiums because they got a reckless driving ticket I will die. Learn to drive you brainless assholes or learn how not to get caught drinking and driving.

What is it with call center employee abuse. Just because you cant see me does not mean I am not there. I am a human and I do have feelings. I am sorry your payment is high but for God sakes do you think that yelling at me will make it go down. All you have to do is be resonable and speak to me with half the respect I speak to you with. Calling my mom names is not going to help your case. Threatening to kill me and my family will get you no where. I can help you assholes if only you let me. I am not paid to screw you. I am paid to do my job honestly.

What prompted this tirad was this guy who was really upset with me. He told me his 16 year old son got his drivers licence. According to the contract he has to be added to the policy and we will charge premium for him. After I told him about the increase to his rates he started yelling for me to take him off the policy. After I advised him I could not do that he gets a whistle and starts blowing it into the phone. I use a double headset so I got it in both ears. I have such a headache I cant stand it. The wonderful supportive company I work for informed me that it is wrong to hang up on any policy holder. Then they informed me that I could leave early but it would be counted against me. Nice.

Sounds to me like you need an ice cream bar. Are there any funny old people who call in? Just wondering, becouse people with customer service jobs tend to have funny stories....and I like funny stories. And old people always do funny stupid stuff... unless any of you who are reading this are old in which case I mean that young people do funny stupid stuff. Actually any funny stupid stories will do nicely, please.

I too have worked for some rather large call centers... Sure you get some funny stories from time to time... But the people on the phones are the front line to every bad decision a company makes. And on top of that, they could care less how much you like your job by paying you nothing for barracading yourself in between them and their customers.

It ended for me when the movie office space came out, It was about my job! The guy who wrote it was from my hometown! It had to be about my job or it wouldn't be so similar! Anyways, after I saw that movie I put in my 2 weeks and got the fuck out vowing that I would never return to a job where I have to answer a phone from the public. My next job tried to pull a fast one on me with doing so because of my younger years.. It quickly became obvious that I would never pick up that phone if it was ringing. (I already managed to find a place that wasn't wired to the PBX, and I wasn't about to pick up the general line off somebody elses, or respond to my the cell phone they gave me after I started getting calls at 3 in the morning) I then got another job after that... I had a phone, and it rang a lot from the past guys who worked there supporting people over it. It too soon became useless to try and contact me with. If you want me to repond, you will email me is what they soon learned. Then when things got bigger and better because of all the time I put in improving things and being proficient. (aka not answering the damn phone all day) They decided to bring my phone back, but not without a secretary to answer it. From then on out, I now have a liason between me and the people who need to talk to me or my team. (since I protect them from the phone also, I want them to be productive and I know it is impossible with incoming calls.)

Luckily I never had to deal with any 'sales type, or policy type call center jobs' thou I knew quite a few that did work those kinds of things back in the day. Hopefully you will move on to a better things. I can't tell you how many phones and pagers I 'convienently' lost or 'accidentally' washed after working from a phone or being on call 24/7. Now I just need to find a new job that didn't consolidate an entire team of people into me just to save money. (yea, quit that mess last week)

But good luck with all the ungrateful bastards that use you as their punching bag just because you are trying to help them work out their problems. I truely feel for you people, just keep being nice and don't let them get to you. Some of us appreciate what you 'can' do as opposed to what you 'can't' do.

Ok. First of all I wanna tell you that.... I HATE MY FUCKIN JOB WITH A FUCKIN PASSION!!!!! Now that, that is said and expressed oh so eloquently...I have only been working there for 5 months and next week I will be handing in my two weeks notice. I got hired believing that they were going to give full time hours - LIE#1. I got hired believing I was going to get paid a certain amount per hour to only discover that they pay you 4$ less an hour than what they had promised during the job interview - LIE #2. They then said that I was going to get benefits, only they forgot to say that it is only after you have worked 6 months for them. And finally they promised me that I was going to work day shifts ex. 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. But that is not the case, oh, no child I get to work 3pm-11pm. So I have no fuckin life what so ever! I work with fucking assholes who are younger than me. I am not old but I refuse to get treated like shit by some stupid person in their mid twenties, who thinks they know everything about life. I am in my late twenties and I do not have life figured out. But I guess because they are supervisors that make them fuckin special. I tried to be patient, I tried to look the other way, I even tried to befriend those sub-humans. It is not working. And they are certainly not worth wasting my time and energy on trying to please them. So Fuck it, Fuck it all. I quit. All I got to say is KARMA.
