Manners, Managers and NitpickingHello again! Back into the working world. Working for a "Big Box" Not too bad- (surprisingly enough) Job sucks royal but co-workers seem decent.(Meaning if they talk behind yer back it seems to stay just there and it takes awhile before you hear it.) Biggest beef are the 'Summer people'who seem to be still on 'big city' time who want to swipe their cards way before I'm done ringing them up-and then when they do swipe they can't wait a minute for the machine to register so they swipe again 5 or 6 times get upset then throw their credit cards at me to do it by hand. Then there are the idiots who bring hex bolts/washers to the front yet have no idea about the size/item number/price then get angry because it takes a few minutes to search the books/databases to find the buggers!! I won't get into the people who bring soppy plants out of one area to the next or some of the filthiest hands I've ever seen in my life that I need to come in contact with just to get the money. (Going broke buying wet wipes) All in all though I must smile, be friendly and polite all the while there's this voice in my head that screams "ASSHOLES!" I've dealt with all of this quite well I think-(exhustion does wonders) Now though I don't understand why one of the head cashiers has decided to 'take me under her wing'-Head cashiers where I work are the people who just stand around basically and watch what the cashiers are doing and are on hand if there is any difficulties (should be not always the case)If you think in prison terms- they would not be the guards but the trustees. There are 'house rules' where I work- they are documented in our orientation book. No sleeveless shirts- (no matter if it feels like 110 degrees outside) No hoop/dangle earrings no matter the size, only studs and no bigger than a dime. Here's the thing- I've seen one of the supervisors where sleeveless, several of my co-workers wear sleeveless, and several ladies wear small dangly earrings. NOTHING IS SAID and I get really pissed off when I see one of the other head cashiers wearing not studs but rather bolts in her ears and being able to wear a SKIRT (not allowed by handbook rules either) and NOTHING IS SAID. I don't understand why this one woman feels that I need to follow the rules to the letter while around me the rules are bent to suit. I guess I shouldn't make a big deal of it I am getting PAID-but I feel like I'm being singled out and I can't understand why this woman feels the need to 'correct' me but will not correct the others. |
