My Job

ok so I gave my notice.
I am kinda scared but....hey... what the fuck!

so I just heard that my company is trying to come up with a good counter offer.......

what the fuck is that suppossed to mean.....

Why would you ask someone to stay that is obviously giving up on you...

Are they doing it so I train someone to take over for me....and then let me go...

I don't trust them at all.....

My boss has even started saying how she needs to work on things.....
I just want to say Well Good Fucking Morning...how was your fucking rest you have been doing while I have been working this whole time....and now you are going to open your fucking eyes....

I guess that is what is takes.....

...no matter how it was intended. Seriously, you could be right about them trying to get you to train a replacement. You're smart enough to see that. So just know that you don't need them as much as they need you and laugh your ass outta' there!!!

Sorry, drunk blogging here...

I meant to say that it is generally held truth that counteroffers are NEVER to be accepted. I'm sure you realize that, but I wanted to post it to spark discussion if need be. If you accept a counteroffer, you're basically saying "I can't do any better." I'm not trying to stir stuff up among anybody who has accepted a counteroffer, because we all make choices that we think are right for us at the time - but you are giving the "ex" way too much control if you accept a counteroffer.

yeah I think that even though it feels pretty good right now..and I feel like finally something is about me....that too will pass.

The truth is I hate my job! I have hated it since the first day when I saw the first piece of shit, hillbilly, white trash Oregonian come walking through the door. Everyday there is some sort of fight with someone or something. I am tired and I am not even 30. I wake up
after 8-9 hours of sleep and I am tired. I drag myself to work not even trying anymore...sometimes totally hung over so I have the challenge of trying to feel better.

My boss has been saying how she would promise to work on things if I were to ever consider staying. She is just throwing it around left and right.....and just why would I believe her now. I can't take her promises at face value especially coming from someone who when you give her a year worth of chances to correct her problems everyday she still can't do it.

If I accept the counter offer on my terms....(and that is what they want me to feel right now)....It will be weird.
the company no doubt is already questioning my loyalty AND they more then likely want to be the one in control of the timetable....
Fuck You I'm not staying.

In some industries, they counter offer to protect themselves from losing business to the competition should an employee be courted by them or interview with them. Sometimes it is to protect delicate information from being passed to competitors which may give them an edge such as fee schedules and potential sales leads. Or dirt, real or fabricated. People in certain positions may have enough client loyalty to take business with them also.

If they are willing to put their money where their mouth is, sometimes it is worth it to accept. It depends on the industry you work in and what type of culture your company has. If they are putting you in the drivers seat, you can push the envelope because you have nothing to lose. If money is one of your issues, ask for a whole lot more. If you get it, you are not chained to them, unless you have signed a contract.

The down side is that you can end up under their thumb once you accept an offer. They may come to think of themselves as owning you in some way because they have bought you. This is a very bad position to be in. Most people don't accept counter offers because of the downside. And normally they have been offered a better situation and are looking to get out anyways.
