Do you know what your title is...exactly?

I'm just wondering if anyone else here goes through the title bullshit.
Titles mean nothing, most people here know this. I know this.

They don't mean anything, but then again they do. If you are given one, you expect to live up to it and fulfill the duties of it, in doing this, you naturally expect it to be recognized. It's not. It never truly was. It is make believe.

If you do this and you suddenly realize that you were never truly recognized as having it at all, would you be pissed?

Anyone else here fall into the title trap?

I'd be interested in hearing your stories. If only to know I am not alone and that others have fallen into this silly crap.

I used to be a "LAB TECHNICIAN", yet the most high-tech things I worked with were a pH meter and an electronic balance. The rest of the time I was ruining my health for shit wages and was nothing more than a goddamned paint janitor. As for the "quality control" part of my job, I set the paint up at the right specs only to have it sit behind the lines for like 4 hours and separate because the production people liked to get shit done early and sit on their asses for HOURS at a time, yet I took shit because I was a non-smoker and was expected to work 58 seconds out of every minute. Title really is worthless unless you're a goddamned lawyer, politician, doctor, or CEO. Fuck this country...

...Barely.

My title gained "Manager" and it seemed like a great advance for my career. Except, it wasn't accompanied by a monetary raise. "It's ok," my mom tells me, "sometimes, you just get the title increase, and that is equal to a raise in salary as far as respect, responsibilities, and ownership go." WRONG! Wrong, wrong, wrong, and oh--wrong as hell!

Like wageslaveZ says, "Title really is worthless unless you're a goddamned lawyer, politician, doctor, or CEO." I don't know if I would say 'Fuck this country' as much as I would say, 'Fuck the abusers of wealth and power.'

As a 'Manager,' I haven't noticed any different treatment than when I wasn't a manager. Well, I haven't noticed any improved treatment, I should say. I am well aware of my worth, and how valuable a person of my background and experience would be in almost any role. I'm a humble person and confident in what I do, not a bullshitter trying to fake my way to a good salary, so what the fuck? Why didn't I get a raise? Why can't I find another job that values me? I bet if I changed my name from female to male, I'd get a better response--or if I had Trump as a goddamn reference or something.

MAN! I am just so tired of this lousy fucking company and heavy responsibilities with no incentive.

Mom's are no help at all. I know, believe me, I talk to mine :) . especially if they haven't been in the workforce in the last 2-3 years. 10-15yrs, they are coming from another planet with their advice. 20+ years like my mom, she remembers/invents stuff based on morals and be kind to your neighbor stuff , that NEVER HAS happened or will happen in business.
