drugs does this to people, I guess..

Okay, well my job is pretty crazy, but not usually as crazy as it was today. I work at a restaurant (only one more week left, thank goodness!).. so, nine people
came in and everything was going fine. They paid the bill, etc. and were just about to leave, when a waitress and I heard this little girl walk out the door and say to her friend/sister "that boy kept asking me for my phone number!", so the waitress was trying to figure-out who they were talking about. She asked a waiter "so, did you get that girl's phone number?" he said "what??" and she told him what we heard. He said "no, I didn't ask her for her number." So, her father comes back in with her and talks to the manager about what happened, the waiter comes out and tells them he didn't ask for her phone number, but apologized anyways. The father screams at the waiter and tells him "well, we have two options.. I can either beat the shit out of you or, if I come in tomorrow and see you, I am going to beat the shit out of you!". My manager says "we don't want to have that happen! aren't there any other options?" the father says "well, I'd really like to beat him up right now!" Then, the father decides to call the police and they come in and talk to my manager for a few minutes and tell him there isn't anything criminal about what he did. What the fuck is wrong with people?! this HUGE scene was created because of such a little problem. It's like calling the cops because somebody gave you a funny look. *sigh* please pass the advil!

is waaaay more exciting than mine.

I feel bad for your fellow waiter - irate, clearly delusional daddies are a force to be reckoned with.

Good luck with your next job/endeavor!

Daddy might have thought a little pedophilia maybe being stagged here.
In society today, one often assumes such things.

You might look up your coworkers on one of those government run sex offender sites and see if any shows up, but somehow that seems unethical.

im confused. when you queried the waiter, he denied asking the "little girl" for her phone number.

then, to the father, he "apologizes anyways".

did he or did he not ask that girl for her telephone number? how old was she? is it certain by "boy" she meant the waiter? how old is he?

there are a number of things here that bother me:

a) an adult male (possibly) pestering a minor for her phone number - he needs to be straightened out.

b) the waiter is bullied into an apology for something seriously inappropriate, when he (possibly) didnt do anything wrong!

c) a customer allowed to make a scene and use vulgarities in your workplace when he is pointing fingers.

i dont think this is a 'little problem' unless what the girl claims had happened actually did NOT.

also, it is NOT unethical to review a police sex offender registry. most states have them online. they are there for due diligence. pennsylvania's states that it is NOT legal to harrass someone who is on the registry-- but you do have a right to know their history, when it comes to the safety of a child.
looking forward to a response in this interesting story!

The girl was twelve years old, the waiter is twenty. I talk to this person all the time and don't think he would do something like this.
I think the police were called because the night time manager did a bad job at handling the situation and even after the server apologized, the father thought it might happen again. What really confuses me is that nothing remember was wrong, until they all left and the girl said "that boy keeps asking me for my phone number!", didn't any of the family members see him talking to her? (there were nine of them, all together) I don't believe we had any witnesses to this, which is the reason why the cop said "we don't have any proof". This whole thing could of been made up because the server gave her a weird glance. Because the man threatened to come back, the waiter hasn't worked for the last few days. This is what happens when you work at a crappy job like mine.. all hell breaks loose and nobody has any training of what to do.

thanks for clearing that up.

i dont know about you, but i find this chilling. this parent comes in (maybe with $$$$$$$$ in the back of his mind) and is so threatening that a guy skips work, fearing for his safety. and the allegations, all unsubstantiated, are serious.

really, the restaurant business. yuck-- you have to feed the public. the thought makes me want to exile myself to the hills of wyoming to live as a hermit eating insects and reading up on Mao Tse Tung.
