and that you know they are going to fire you, if I were in your shoes, I would quit. It's better to say you quit than to say you got fired from a job, and personally, if it were me, if I knew the company I worked for was going to pull something like that, I'd like to get the better of them by quitting before they have someone to fill the position.

There is the other possibility that they are hiring someone to do your job (that you were hired for) and that they'd have you continue to work on their "projects" instead (i.e. you get a new job title or whatever) - but since there was a "meeting", that's probably not the case.

Don't let some assholes pull your job out from under you. Go into their office and demand to know why your job is being advertised. If they don't like it act resigned, then call in sick the next day. Use all your sick days. All your vacation days. Give no notice, but never come back.

Fuck those assholes.

This is a common tactic today by companies. The last job I had I was tech lead, and lead developer, and managing two other developers, and doing the project management, and developing th build system, then they yanked me off the project to work on the build system for THREE WEEKS, then threw more tasks at me, then the fucking moron development managers and his moron testers ERASE the build machine I set up for them and he went home at 5:30 while I was up til 3AM covering for his mistake and doing my work too. Then after all this the boss says "We've been working on this for a year and have very little to show for it". It was some backwater swamp company in FL. Piece of shit run by some golfer who left at 3:30 every friday to go golfing or flying. I finally just quit that shithole and dropped th whole project into their lap leaving the whole company scrambling. Too bad for them!

LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE... YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO TRAIN YOUR REPLACEMENT, SO HAVE FUN WITH IT. TEACH THEM THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT EVERY JOB DUTY REQUIRES. YOUR ASSHOLE BOSS WILL KICK HIMSELF IN THE ASS AFTER A WEEK OR SO. I'VE DONE IT, IT WORKS, AND THE FEEDBACK FROM FORMER CO-WORKERS IS FUCKING HILARIOUS.
