Any Actual Results From Recruiters?Has anyone actually ever had any positive results from corporate/professional recruiters or their agencies? And, I'm referring to decent positions with a minimum salary of $50k... It seems that about 80% of decent job postings are now handled through multiple bureaucracies involving inept recruiters. All I have ever experienced vis-a-vis recruiters are teases with no real possibility of landing a job. Most are horribly unorganized, aloof, and seem to just go through the motions without ever taking action toward helping someone get hired. I posted on here about 6 months ago, bitching and moaning about not finding any decent jobs - and guess what? Same shit, different day. I've had many bullshit phone interviews that never lead to anything...then I see these morons that actually get these jobs, and it is a fucking joke. Relationship bankers with "some college," marketing managers with certificates from community colleges...what a shitty deal. Anyone else tired of being tired of looking for a decent job/company that doesn't require extreme corporatism, involve a corrupt hierarchy of positions, or doesn't understand the meaning of work/life balance? Simply put, no. I had a recruiter call me, said he read my resume and liked my experience and the fact that I was getting my college degree. I agreed to a face-to-face interview. I went into his office, he had my "file" in front of him, resume and all. We talked a bit, and then he asked the 'big' question: "Are you ready for a career in nursing and put all of your experience and education to use?" He leaned over his desk a bit and gave me a real serious look, too. "Nursing?! Nursing. Dipshit, I major in Economics and Political Science. I specifically study international trade and economic development and foreign policy. Where the hell do you get nursing from that?! You know what? I'll just show myself out." I got up and left. I've had quite a bit of dealing with these useless fucks, so I can say something about this. The bad fucking thing is...that most if not ALL major/serious companies use these fucked up recruiters to get most or ALL of their employees. Companies are cutting costs and getting rid of their HR departments......and relying on outsourced companies to do the work. Sure it may cost hell..20% of their hires first year salary, but that's not bad considering they don't have somebody making $80K per year(plus benefits) going through stacks of resumes and doing simple interviews. Another sure way to get a decent job, use friends, relatives etc etc. Fuck...people quit, die, get murdered, crash cars, break bones, give birth, OD on drugs, have hearth attacks, get locked up in jail, etc etc.........EVERY DAY!!!! So the job that was not open yesterday, might be open today, or tomorrow, or the day after, or a week or month later, or at some point in the future. Key is to just keep at it and not give up(which I know is a bitch when you got bills and the job is not in sight). And next job you get make sure you save 3-6 months of bills(stop buying all the useless shit you don't need and actually save some money, cut the fucking credit cards in half and stay home on the weekends, and out of the goddam shopping malls), so you are not as rushed to take a shit job just for survival. hujwdupe i dont deal with recruiters. ive learned my lessons. i think the final straw was when i expressed interest in an advertised job (around 2003?). the position was sort of in my field, but i didnt quite have the experience in steel structures that was desired by the hiring firm. i MENTIONED THIS IN A COVER LETTER TO THE RECRUITER, AND AGAIN ON THE PHONE..... assured that this wouldnt be a problem, i agreed to let them forward my resume to this firm. then....and help me here, because they always puzzled me....i had to go in for an interview, not with the hiring firm, but with the recruiter's boss (why?). at this interview, he berated me for not having experience in steel buildings. HELLO, MCFLY!?!?!??????!?!?!?!?!? was i not straightforward about this???? i was livid. i dont care if most companies use these whores. if im interested in a firm, ill check their website, where they will most likely post open positions anyway. You've exhausted every resource? I've "networked," which is just another euphemism for "sucked-up." I've talked to friends, family, etc. These people don't want to help either...because they don't want to see you do better than them. I've tried using those sites like linkedin.com, zoomerang.com, etc. Those all blow too because it is very likely that your manager/boss is on those sites as well. The more info you give, the more likely it is that you'll be seen trying to search for another job. So, it seems that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. As for recruiters, what incentive do they really have to help? If recruiters have such an "inside track" to these great jobs, then why the hell aren't they taking some themselves? Anyone got an extra bullet? * lawyers It's been years since I used a recruiter and back then they were worthless pieces of poo. If you must use a recruiter might I suggest googling "india recruiters" and when you contact them use the name Rupendra or such. Recruiters lie to you, now you can lie to them. If that is distastful or does not give you the desired results, might I suggest waiting at the end of your local 7-11 parking lot for the big honk'n pick up truck, the driver's name will be Bo, or Walley. (best results in Maryland, Masseutuests, Florida, Virgina and California). Your name in this case is Ramerez. Unfortunately, in both cases the best you can expect is $12/hour and only that if the job is asbestos removal. However if you can't beat them (recruiters) maybe you can join them, here is a little how to video for you. Good luck. I'd rather be miserable than "join them," so to speak. The video post is just another example of the employment process in the US is a joke unless you're part of the well-connected. Regarding lawyers and journalists - I actually have more respect for those people than for recruiters. At least there is documentation and a record of them helping society in some way at some point in their careers. Recruiters, on the other hand, are useless intermediaries whose job it is to dangle the prospect of a job in front of desperate candidates. They can't even do that right. I had one of these douche bags call me up a while ago out of the blue. He told me he got my name from "a client" and asked me to send him my resume. I e-mailed a PDF and he got back to me with the usual puffs of warm, moist air on my fine rectal hairs; "You're perfect for the position I have to fill.", "My experience is pefect for the job.", yada, yada, yada. Just so you know, I'm a manager in the prepress department at a large daily newspaper. I hate working here because my boss is a fucking cunt and I wish he would die or leave the country, preferably die. The only reason I'm hanging on here is the money. I gross close to $100K/year and I'm not prepared to just walk away. I know my boss is trying to make me quit because frankly, he's a fucking moron and should have never been hired and I know 100 times what he knows and I rub it in his ugly English face at every opportunity. Guess I have a bit of an attitude problem. Anyway, we made arrangements to meet (the fact it was at a coffee shop should have been my first clue this guy was a dickhead) and I show up ready for the interview with his "associate". So, I get to the coffee shop and not knowing what the guy looks like, I'm surprised when this idiot starts waving at me. I walk up to him and say, "Are you Bob Bernstein?" to which he replies, "Yes," and proceeds to show me my resume. The problem was, the resume he showed me was not the one I e-mailed but one on file with my employer. My old boss made it up before he retired. It has my picture on the cover page. I went through with the "interview" anyway to see if I could find out who put him up to it. It turns out my boss put this guy on to me to find out if I was interested in leaving the company. The next day I casually asked my boss if he knows a guy named Bob Bernstein and he was actually stupid enough to say yes! I just shook my head and walked away. have it under control. Wow, even though it's gross, $100k is a nice salary - especially for a newspaper (no offense). If your boss went through the trouble of arranging the little scheme you described, he must value you more than you may think. If I were you I would stick around as long as is bearable while stockpiling enough cash to ditch them one glorious day. Recruiters are scum that never figured out what to do with their lives, so they took their bullshit HR degrees, ran away from their doomed corporate PERSONNEL divisions (BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY FUCKING ARE!), and formed another goddamnmed socioeconomic good-ol' boys' and dikes' club to fuck an already spiritually and economically raped workforce to death!!! H8!!!! They're up there with the lobbyists, petrochemical industry, Wal-Mart, Big Pharma, and the U.S. House and Senate for corruption and LIES! That's all they are, another bullshit socio-economic-industrial concern trying to get their bloated share of bananas from this shit-flinging monkey-farm of a has-been nation. I've fallen for their bullshit way too often. Kelly Services, Manpower, Aerotek, and my own rust and cum-stained Michi-mitten's employment service Employment One. The latter I threw away 180 bucks on that would've been better spent on getting tanked and forgetting the last 8 years of my doomed life! That's how fucked the job market has become, we have to PAY to NOT get jobs. Even with the new high school diploma/Bachelor's Degree we're all screwed. A degree is nothing more than another token saying you've met a BARE MINIMUM set of requirements to enter another tier of bullshit and wageslavery, this time wearing fancy suits/pantsuits/powerskirts and ties with which we're no more than hanging ourselves. Now that was CATHARTIC!!! >8) It's all nothing more than thinly-veiled social Darwinism at work brought to us by the literal embodiment of Orwell's ruling elite a la 1984 and to quote Winston Smith, "We are the dead." So in summation, the ONLY reason I read the paper is to find the one headline I'm still waiting for; "The Dead Walk!". That's when I crank up the Disturbed on the old MP3 player, pull out my .45, and start killing every fucking suit-turned-zombie I see along with feeding every living one I capture to the blue-collar undead! Melodromatic yes, but I like it too. Keep it evil... End this suffering You made a monster of me Don't look away You made a rock star of me Think over all of the shit in your mind (Disturbed: Monster) listening to a band like Disturbed?? Can't agree with that choice (talk about cookie-cutter bullshit music). While you're at it, why not invoke blithering mediocrity like Avenged Sevenfold, Nickelback, Killswitch Engage, et. al.? So, other than the choice of music, it sounds like you get it. Learn How -->>............. |
