The Psychology of Waiting To Hear

I am waiting to here if I got a job that I interviewed for...

There is nothing like absolutely hating your current job, interviewing at a place that you would kill to be at- then having to sit at the same old desk- while waiting for the phone to ring...

I am now going to church more- which means that there is a positive side to hating your job.

I also keep a prayer card on my desk- when I have the urge to pummel someone with a stapler- I can hold onto the card and think of all of the reasons that prison is a bad place...

While I am ranting- what a lovely time to be in a recession- it is almost like you have to be thankful for being treated like shit...

So...not only is the job crap- now, you have to be thankful for that crap...

This week- we have had to start signing out for copy paper- copy paper- what does it mean if i use too many pieces of paper? Am I being wasteful? Productive?

Is the eco mafia behind the movement?

I saw a sign in the bathroom this morning that asked for employees not to remove toilet paper....so, is the person who is taking this- angry at the school? Soceity? Is the paycheck going nowhere?

Must pray for new job...

I received a new job. Or at least a verbal. Then I received a second verbal offer from the same district. Normally, this would mean that i had a new job....

Now, it is a week and (almost a half) later, and I have still not heard from the HR department.

I am sorry to rant, but one of the many problems with how we treat our employees in this country can be found in this situation. Why we are slipping on the world stage as far as worker productivity and morale are concerned is clearly defined by the above.

Our businesses, schools, etc. can't even give a verbal, talk to a supervisor, get in touch with an HR department and call a person back in an appropriate amount of time.

We have no problem leaving people hanging. Hell, in today's society, you can't even share your joy with your family or your friends-who knows if the new place will not lose your paperwork?

Now, I am still getting paid by my old job for doing a few independent things. I can teach classes in a couple of more weeks -while waiting for these folks. I live in two worlds-

It is bad enough we don't take enough time off in this country......It is horrible that our recreation time is almost non existent and that we are becoming increasingly an obese nation.

So, today, I will not give my notice....I will look at the phone and watch what is supposed to be my love of the new place slowly disappear.
