Now I Know Why Unions are as Endangered as Polar Bears...

Just when I was getting comfortable in my gray-collar internship in Pontiac last week, guess what happens? The dickheaded Millwrights' union that took 8 weeks after an interview in snail-mail to tell me I'm not an apprentice calls me while I'm putting shelving together in the back of the test lab. The man identified himself as one of my interviewers and offered me some fill-in job by the sound of it in the maintenance department, most likely RIGHT accross the street at the GM truck works in Pontiac. So I tell him the offer sounded great, I'd KILL someone for 17 bucks an hour; even if two of it went to dues and general welfare funds, etc. He gives me another contact to call. Here's the bitch, he called me at 3:30 on a Friday! Yeah, how the hell am I supposed to dodge out of work and somehow break the sound barrier to make it from Pontiac to Warren by five?... >:( Then I stewed all weekend realizing that I had to call work with something that didn't sound like bullshit to get out of it to have time to call the contact at the union about the cake job. I lied to my HR guy about having to see a college counselor to get some more scholarship money and you could hear the frustration in his voice, but he said I'd better show up tomorrow and I told him my job depended on it. So I called the union hall at like 8 in the morning today and got the shrew Polacky receptionist that said my contact was in a meeting. I waited till nine to call again, same she-bitch, same answer. Call number three she tells me he left the building. Call four she finally asks who the hell I am and what I'm calling about, told her, then she told me what my Spidey sense sort of told me already, I waited too goddamned long and the job was filled already, no doubt by another of the 80 or so peope out of 150 that weren't apprenticed out in June like I should've been and I guess was less of an apprehensive, questioning little bitch like I am. I just wanted to thank that bitch and her dinosaur task masters for costing me 96 bucks from this week's paycheck along with any credibility I had left with my new employer after only a week... So that seals it, I'm riding my current job until I'm stuck in full-time college again in September on the State's financial dog choker, then I'll probably have to KILL somebody just to get a fulltime job in my actual county so I have just enough time to work and study for the next two years. So now I see why the elephant-riders hate unions. I bet a lot of poor Republicans tried their whole lives for a union job only to get what I have from them... I'm glad they gave us paid vacation, the 40 hour work week, and portable health insurance, but I hate them for never getting me a goddamned job that I qualify for... Keep it evil.

Wear the grudge like a crown
Of negativity
Calculate what you will
Will not tolerate
Desperate to control
All and everything
Unable to forgive
Your scarlet letterman

Clutch it like a cornerstone
Otherwise it all comes down
Justify denials and
Grip 'em to the lonesome end

Clutch it like a cornerstone
Otherwise it all comes down
Terrified of being wrong
Ultimatum prison cell

Saturn ascends
Choose one or ten
Hang on or be
Humbled again
Humbled again

Clutch it like a cornerstone (crescendo)
Otherwise it all comes down
Justify denials and
Grip 'em to the lonesome end

Saturn ascends
Comes 'round again
Saturn ascends
The one, the ten
Ignorant to
The damage done

Wear the grudge like a crown
Of negativity
Calculate what you will
Will not tolerate
Desperate to control
All and everything
Unable to forgive
Your scarlet letterman

Wear the grudge like a crown (crescendo)
Desperate to control
Unable to forgive
And sinking deeper

Defining
Confining
Sinking deeper (sometimes says "AND sinking deeper" in concert)

Controlling
Defining
And we're sinking deeper

Saturn comes back around
To show you everything
Lets you choose what you will
Will not see and then
Drags you down like a stone
Or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child
Light and innocent

Saturn comes back around
Lifts you up like a child
Or drags you down like a stone
To consume you 'til you
Choose to
Let this go
Choose to
Let this go

Give away the stone
Let the ocean take and transmutate
This cold and fated anchor
Give away the stone
Let the waters kiss and transmutate
These leaden grudges into gold
(gold... gold... gold... gold... gold...
gold... gold... gold... gold...) (decrescendo)

Let go (crescendo)

Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go
Let go

Glad to see you are still angry.

LOL!

I am interminably angry and always seeking "the others". Just so that I know I'm not insane...well, at least by our standards.

Life goes on, anger fades, a good thing, but, inevitably, resurfaces. Because, Jesus Christ, how can a sane person feel anything else?
